Getting started

I decided to run the Berlin marathon for charity, it is my first marathon and it is my first charity run. In this blog I share my thoughts, plans and progress for both projects.

I have thought of running for a charity for a while as I wanted to give a meaning to my running kilometers besides my mental and physical health. Running a marathon is a goal I want to achieve in my life knowing at the same time I better do it soon as I will definitely not get younger. Therefore combining the two and timing it around my 40th Birthday kind of make sense to me.

With my run I want to help Deutsche Kinderkrebsstiftung with the great work they do with children with cancer. I will run the marathon to honor my mum who passed away due to a cancer. If my fund raising will save one child from cancer or support one family during the difficult times, my effort is worth it. (You can follow the fund raising project in www.alvarum.com/katjatiitinen)

Even though I am pretty confident I can run the marathon, 42,2 km sounds like a lot of painful kilometers. I am going to publish my training plan in this blog... More to follow soon.
